Biphasic Sleep

“Time for some lifehacking experimentation, I say.”

That was me as of a few hours ago.

I stayed up until roughly 6:30AM on Sunday doing work related stuff. Rolled into work around 10. Ended up leaving at 6, ate until roughly 7:30, and then slept until 10:30.

I then stayed up from then until roughly 4:30 and slept until 8:30. I loved it.So productive.

A few weeks ago I read about polyphasic sleeping and the “Uberman” sleep schedule and decided that, while that particular schedule is crazy, revisiting how I view sleep might help me find a more productive lifestyle.

These two things have come together into a fervent belief that I should try a biphasic sleep schedule for a month or so and see if it has the results I’m hoping for.

This basically means I’ll take a nap today around 7:30 or so and sleep until 9:00, then stay up until 4:00 and go to sleep again until 8:30. It adds up to 6 hours but the 18 hours remaining tend to be very productive (one of the least productive times is from 6:00-7:30, which is mostly devoted to driving home and eating anyway…)

I’ll be writing updates on how it’s going along with my dear poems, which I have to say I’ve been pretty happy with lately.
